Weather

At the Hot To Trot 4 and 8 Hour Race, Click for Decatur, Georgia Forecastour goal is to provide the race as advertised. As the name implies, you can count on it being HOT (we had a freak cold snap in 2004, but we're pretty sure that won't happen again). Temps are easily in the 90's this time of year in Georgia, with humidity off the scale. Hyponatremia and dehydration can be serious. Runners are expected to use proper electrolytes in order to stay alive! Ice is provided throughout the race for your use to keep that core body temperature down! The race director reserves the right to pull anyone whom he feels is putting themselves in danger. If you do not know how to manage your electrolytes, learn BEFORE this run, not during!

FAQ

How hard is the course?

The course is 4 and 8 hours hard. To put that into perspective, the previous course at Clyde Shepherd was only about 5 hours hard because the first 3 hours were easy. There are roots, rocks, sand, possibly a blow down, and two climbs each loop. Those climbs will be very easy the first few times you do them.

Is there a wait list?

Yes. If you'd like to be added to the wait list, please This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. . An entry form will be emailed to you when a spot is open. You will have 48 hours to let us know if you want to run. If not, your name will be removed and we'll go on to the next person.

I'm a wuss. Do I have to be out there for 8 hours?

Well if you're a wuss, you should probably stay far away from Hot to Trot, But to answer your question, no. A lot of folks will only run a few hours then leave. Some have a mileage goal, and once they reach that, will stop. We also have a 4 hour option this year as well so you can run as many or as few miles as you wish.

Does the race provide electrolyte pills?

No. You will need to bring your own. We will have a electrolyte drink and lots of salty foods. But you must bring your own electrolytes. And just to be clear, you WILL need them.

Does the race provide pain relievers (Tylenol, Motrin, etc)?

No. Again, bring your own. Taking such medications in conjunction with dehydration greatly increases the risk of renal failure. We will not take that responsibility.
